Going to the city

Brian Wambi

The bus stop in my town was full of people.

1

The bus conductor shouted, "Going to the city! Leaving now!"

2

People pushed to get on the bus.

3

Women with children sat down.

The journey was going to be long.

4

I sat at the window, next to a man.

5

I thought, "I am going to the big city! I will miss home."

6

There were many hawkers selling their goods.

7

Some passengers bought things.

I had no money to buy anything.

8

Suddenly, the driver blew the horn.

It was time to leave.

9

The hawkers pushed each other to get out of the bus.

10

“When will I return?" I asked myself.

11

It was hot inside the bus.

I closed my eyes.

12

I thought about my mother and brother at home.

13

Gradually, I fell fast asleep.

14

Many hours later, I woke up.

Almost everyone had left.

15

It was time to find my uncle’s house.
